SEIZURES COMPLICATE LIFE
Injuries-mostly physical Injuries -up to 20% of people with epilepsy may experience injuries.

developmental delays compared to children without epilepsy.

Epilepsy can be stigmatized, leading to discrimination and social isolation.
Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP):
SUDEP is a rare but serious complication of epilepsy that can occur when a person with
epilepsy dies suddenly and unexpectedly -SUDEP occurs in about 1 in 1,000 people with epilepsy each year.
While epilepsy can affect people of all ages and backgrounds, certain groups of
people with epilepsy may be at increased risk of developing complications - include:
Infants and young children, Older adults, Pregnant women,
People with intellectual disabilities,&
People with uncontrolled seizures
